Sustainability Actions

I will advocate sustainable practice with the aim of making it the norm.

To achieve this for all my projects I focus on:

  • Applying reduce, reuse and recycle principles working towards a full-circle design approach. This includes not just materials but space optimisation, linking design with business strategy and radically rethinking how buildings are used.

  • Designing for durability, quality and flexibility to ensure longevity of space. The ultimate aim is to encourage clients see interior design as something that constantly evolves and adapts to meet their needs rather than requiring infrequent total refurbishments or fit-outs.

  • Sourcing materials responsibly and reviewing their entire life cycle, including manufacture, transport, installation, use and disposal.

  • Reducing energy, waste and water consumption, including space planning to optimise natural light and the use of intelligent technology.

  • Integrating health and wellbeing strategies into the design, including biomimicry and biophilic principles.

  • Seeking ethical options, including supporting local business and fair trade and considering animal welfare such as purchasing hide from free-range farms.

  • Improving the function of the space in operation, such as maintenance, recycling and the application of technology to reduce energy usage.

  • Encouraging greener transport.
